Istanbuls other airport

Istanbul’s Other Airport also serves the Turkish capital. It’s less well known than Attaturk airport, currently the major gateway to Turkey. Opened in 2001, Sabiha Gokcen airport is attracting more and more users of its superb facilities.
The airport’s low fuel costs and handling charges attracted a great mixture of veteran Soviet freighters. Plus, gleaming executive jets and some of the latest low-cost airlines.
We were given unrestricted access 24 hours a day. The result is Istanbul’s Other Airport which really gives you a sense of being there on the ramp in wonderful sunshine. This in a country where aviation photography is not normally encouraged.
We’ve been able to give you a detailed look at many of the unusual aircraft featured, including an Air Sirin AN2, a Volga Dnepr AN124 and inside an AN12. There’s an IAI Galaxy among the biz-jets, plus a Corendon 737 and an Atlas Jet A320.
Don’t miss the stunning night shots, including the arrival of an IL62 and an IL76.
